Library Media Program

Attalla City Schools Library Media Program
Read. Research. Create. Connect.

Welcome to the Attalla City Schools Library Media Program. Our school libraries support students as readers, researchers, creators, and responsible users of information. We help students find books they enjoy, use technology safely, locate reliable information, and connect what they are learning in class to the world around them.
Our library media program supports the mission of Attalla City Schools by helping provide high-quality learning opportunities for all students through engaging instruction, family and community partnerships, and a focus on student success. Attalla’s district vision also focuses on preparing students to be successful in a global workforce and society, which connects directly to reading, research, digital citizenship, and lifelong learning. Library Media Reports and Compliance Evidence

Attalla City Schools participates in the Library Media Compliance Monitoring process as required by the Alabama State Department of Education.
The district will complete a District Support Planning meeting prior to the formal monitoring window. This meeting is used to review required evidence, clarify documentation needs, and address any concerns before the formal monitoring review. The following documents are maintained to support library media services and compliance monitoring:

  • Current librarian teaching certificate
  • Current weekly library schedule
  • Use-of-time assessment
  • Library lesson plan
  • Library website link
  • Circulation report
  • Collection age report
  • District library policy/procedure manual
  • Automation software agreement or invoice
  • Library Enhancement Fund budget documentation
  • Three years of allocation budget sheets, as applicable

Library Enhancement Funds

Library Enhancement funds are used to support student access to library materials and resources. These funds should directly support the school library program and student use of library resources.

Family and Student Support

The library media program supports families and students by helping connect them with books, digital tools, school communication resources, and technology support.
