Graduation Announcement 2020
Public Graduation Announcement 2020
Weather permitting, on Thursday, June 4th, at 8:00 PM, Etowah High School will host a Graduation Ceremony at Jim Glover Field for our seniors. We are grateful for your understanding that these are remarkable times, and we can not conduct this graduation as we have in the past. However, we are working toward providing a ceremony that is familiar for our students while abiding by Governor Ivey’s latest order. Here are the guidelines we must follow for a safe graduation.
In order to maintain social distancing, we will limit the number of individuals that will be allowed as guests at the ceremony. We are issuing 6 tickets to each senior at the 9:00 AM graduation practice. These tickets are for the household of the senior. All who enter the stadium, including small children, must have a ticket. We are requesting that households arrive and depart in the same vehicle. Individuals will be expected to practice social distancing while at the stadium. Households will sit together in marked spaces surrounded by a 6 foot marked area for social distancing. We must use both sides of the stadium in order to ensure social distancing. The gates will open at 7:00 PM. One gate will be the main pass gate. The other will be the gate near the fieldhouse. Seniors will have reserved parking in the track parking lot. All other guests must park elsewhere.
Guests who have the symptoms of COVID-19 or who have been in contact with someone testing positive for COVID-19 should not attend. Guests are requested to wear masks while at the stadium. Though we will provide handicapped seating by prior arrangement, this event is not recommended for small children, guests who are of advanced age, or guests with a weakened immune system. We will stream our ceremony on Facebook live. The stadium will be labeled with a letter for each seating section and guests will be dismissed by section letter after the graduates have departed at the conclusion of the ceremony.
Guests are not allowed on the field at any time. Photos of graduates receiving their diploma and posing with their diploma will be taken and provided to each graduate by EHS yearbook staff. Only school approved cords, which includes AHSAA championship medals, are allowed to be worn by the graduates. No alterations to the cap and gown will be allowed. Seniors are to arrive in the required attire with their cap and gown at the appointed time before the ceremony. Participation in the Graduation Ceremony is not required. Students qualifying to graduate who are electing not to participate may contact the EHS office to arrange for their diploma to be picked up. All students must complete a medical questionnaire relating to their exposure to COVID-19 and sign off at the graduation practice.
We know that these are challenging times requiring flexibility from us all. Our goal remains to offer a fantastic experience for our students with a safe and orderly celebration of their graduation. If you have any questions, please contact our EHS office. We salute you, the Etowah High School Class of 2020. Congratulations!
